Student success at PACA!

Student success! Celebrations for Portslade Aldridge Community Academy students receiving GCSE results

Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA), part of the Aldridge Education family, is proud to announce another brilliant year of GCSE results for our students.

We had a really joyful morning handing out results with lots of happy smiles and excitement as students received results to give them choices going forward.
As we have noted with other secondary schools in Brighton, the success of the 'Class of 2024' is a shared achievement, and we are incredibly proud of each student. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours and are confident that they will continue to thrive and excel.
The excitement of the morning is best told in the voices of the students.  Here are a number of quotes from students who were with us this morning:

Annabelle Sivyer who gained eight grade 9s and two grade 8s including straight 9s in English Language and Literature, Maths, all three Sciences and French. An amazing set of results!

Annabelle Sivyer is off to Varndean to study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Environmental Science. As PACA’s highest performing Year 11 of 2024, Annabelle’s advice is to work hard and do lots of practice questions, so you know the exams well.

Thomas Barnett who gained six grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7. Thomas got straight 9s in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and French!

Thomas Barnett is off to BHASVIC to study Maths, Further Maths, Biology and PE. He gained the second highest grades this year and was able to maintain his sporting interests alongside. His advice was to try and find the time to do your hobbies as well as studying.

Amelia Osinska who made incredible progress through her five year at PACA. Amelia absolutely smashed her target grades to achieve two 8s in English Language and Literature, three grade 7s in Combined Science and History, two 5s and a merit and distinction in Health & Social Care and Music M2 and D1.

Max Gladwell-Lois who made huge progress to achieve three grade 9s in Triple Science, four 8s including Maths, Computer Science and English, a 6 a 5 and a Distinction in Creative Media.

Harvey-James Cowley

“I was a little bit nervous but I kept my confidence high. What made the different was around Christmas I actually started to try. And I’ve got to admit it was the teaching too. It’s good teaching here.”

Carly Brockwell who achieved a 7 and an 8 in Combined Science is off to DV8 to study Games Development as her main course whilst doing an online course in Astro Physics on the side. She said she’s not sure what she wants to do in the future but it will involve physics.

Will Woodhams achieved 8s in Maths and Chemistry. His advice to next year’s year 11 is that people say GCSE results don’t matter but they do. He got motivated after his first mocks in Year 11 and made sure he was top of the Going for Gold scheme working hard inside and outside of school to hit his targets.

Richard Neville who is going to study brick laying was delighted to have achieved a grade 5 in math and Science Well done Richard!

Alfie Reynolds managed to achieve one of the top progress scores in the year group and has secured himself a scholarship to study at Brighton College next  year. Alfie goes one to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and History at A level and hopes to be a structural engineer in the future. Alfie has Tourette’s Syndrome and said that whilst it has been annoying at times it hasn’t held him back. His advice to next year’s cohort is “work hard and you’ll be fine!”

Julia Barber who achieved three 9s, five 8s, a 7 and a 5 was delighted with her results and goes on to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths at college. Julia hasn't just achieved academically at PACA but really participated in all aspects of schools life from the school shows, singing in her band, art club and playing rugby. Her advice to new Year 7s was "try everything out, it's good to be well rounded".

Archis Chitre
Going on to do Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science said: “I’m really happy with nearly all my results.” and “My advice is to start early and to really understand the content in the sciences.”

Lucas Estorati

“I’m perplexed, bamboozled and incredibly happy. Success is down to trying hard and having good friends. We had a group of friends who really pushed each other. Thank you to PACA, for all the lessons”
