About BACA:

The academy opened in September 2010, and a year later moved into its brand-new building, equipped with new sports, entrepreneurship and IT facilities, and a dedicated sixth form area.

BACA is in the unique position of having two higher-education establishments, Sussex and Brighton Universities, in its immediate proximity. This enables the academy to work closely with them, share their expertise, access their resources and give students a taste of Higher Education.

About PACA:

Portslade Aldridge Community Academy is an 11-16 state funded Academy. PACA is part of the Aldridge Multi-Academy Trust. As a group of schools we are collectively committed to developing all members of staff through our whole school coaching programme.

About the Role:
An opportunity has arisen to join the Aldridge Education team as a Level 6 qualified Careers Advisor. The successful candidate will hold this qualification or be willing to undertake it (this will be funded by the trust).

We are looking for self-motivated, innovative, careers advisor to work in our two Brighton schools. Our aim is to ensure all our pupils have access to high quality careers guidance and activities, across their time in an Aldridge school. This role will require travelling between schools in the local area.

As a member of Aldridge Education staff, you will be a key member of the Personal Development team in school, and contribute to the ongoing development of careers.  This is a pivotal role, guiding young people in making successful, aspirational plans for their next steps.

The role will involve arranging, conducting, and recording careers meetings, across all age groups, alongside supporting the Careers Leader with other careers related activities as required to support the strategic careers plan.

You will lead on 1-2-1 careers meetings, but also group work with younger students, and some work supporting parents/careers.  Where schools have sixth form provision, we would anticipate you working alongside our sixth form teams to ensure pupils are ready for their next steps with university, apprenticeships, or employment.  There will be careers events both in person and virtually, and you may be required to support with these.

As this is a new position, we are keen to hear from individuals able to bring their own ideas to the role, enabling them to make a positive contribution to the career’s education of all of our pupils.

There is the option for the role to be term time only or 52 week depending on the successful candidates preference. The term time only salary aligns with the pro-rata figure whereas the 52 week salary aligns with the FTE figure.

The postholder will work 37 hours per week.
